Netdrive 4.1 Configuration

You can download Netdrive 4.1 here. You will need to enter a valid CNS userid and password to download this software.

Once you have Netdrive installed, you will see the Netdrive icon in your system tray. Right click that icon, and go to 'Open Netdrive'. You should see the following screen:

To create a new site/drive to connect to, click the 'New Site' button at the bottom of the screen. You should see the following:

Enter in a name for the site that you wish to setup (eg. U of M H Drive, note: you can not use special characters such as colon or semicolon in the name field). The site address will be the server address (eg. netware.umanitoba.ca). Once you have entered in this info, click the 'Finish' button.

You should now see the following information on your screen:

In this example, we have configured Netdrive to connect to our Novell home volume (H: drive). The default communication protocol is FTP, and for familiarity, we have selected the H: drive, as the local drive that this will map to. The anonymous/public logon option will be selected by default. You will need to deselect this and then enter in the user’s unique id in the following format: .userid.container_name.umb (eg. .userid.ist.corporate.local.umb). The userid must be entered in this format in order to login. We also recommend deselecting the save password box.

If you click on the 'Advanced' button, you will see the following screen:

On this screen you will need to enter in the Root Directory that you wish to connect to. This should be the UNC path to the directory that you want to hook up to (eg. \\ist-nw\ist\home\userid). Once this is done click on the 'OK' button, and then you should see the initial Netdrive connection screen. If you click the 'Connect' button, you should be prompted for a password, which is your Novell password. Once you have entered this, you should see the drive that you have connected to, mapped to your computer.
